Zaps (“the Extension,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a browser extension that converts addresses on Zillow into clickable Google Maps links. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Summary

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The Extension operates entirely within your browser and does not send any information to external servers.

Information Stored Locally

The Extension stores only your preferences/settings locally on your device using Chrome’s built-in storage API (chrome.storage.sync). This includes:

• Whether to display the Google Maps icon on property pages (on/off)
• Whether to enable links on search results (on/off)
• Whether to show the “Brought by Zaps” notification (on/off)

This data:

• Is stored locally in your browser
• Syncs across your Chrome browsers if you are signed into Chrome (this is a Chrome feature, not ours)
• Is never transmitted to us or any third party
• Can be cleared by removing the extension

How the Extension Works

1. When you visit a page on zillow.com, the Extension scans the page for address elements
2. It converts these addresses into clickable links that point to Google Maps
3. When you click a link, it opens Google Maps in a new tab with that address
4. If enabled, a small notification appears on Google Maps confirming you arrived via Zaps

All of this processing happens locally in your browser. No data is sent to external servers.

Permissions

The Extension requires the following browser permissions:

Host permissions for zillow.com	To run the extension on Zillow pages and convert addresses to links
Host permissions for google.com/maps	To display the “Brought by Zaps” notification

We request only the minimum permissions necessary for the Extension to function.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any data. The Extension:

• Does not contain analytics or tracking code
• Does not use advertising
• Does not sell or rent user data
• Does not communicate with any external servers

External Links

The Extension contains links to:

• Google Maps (to display property locations)
• Buy Me a Coffee (optional support link)
• Google Forms (for user feedback)

These are third-party websites with their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their policies when visiting these sites.

Data Security

Since we do not collect or transmit data, there is no risk of data breach from our end. Your settings are stored using Chrome’s secure storage API and remain on your device.

Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under GDPR. Since we do not collect personal data, these rights are automatically satisfied. No data processing occurs beyond local storage of your preferences.
